A married couple, both 62, were out celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.
A fairy appeared at their tble and said she was there to grant them each one wish for their anniversary. The wife said she would like a cruise around the world for her and her hsuband. Poof! two tickets appeared in her hand. The man looked sheepishly at his wife and said, "I'm sorry my love, but I have to wish for a wife that is 30 years younger than me."
Poof! The man was 92.
Moral of the story: Fairies are always female!

... Do drugstores make the sick people walk all the way to the back of the store to get thier meds while healthy people can by their cigarettes at the front.
... Do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a DIET COKE!
... Do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.
... Do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in our driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
... Do we buy hot dogs in packages of 10 and buns in packages of 8.
... Do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well; "Poli" in Latin means "many" and "tic" means "bloodsuckers."
Do we have drive up ATM machines with braille lettering.
PUMPKIN FEST IN THE PARK
The Pumkin Fest held Sept. 24 in the park was a huge success. Kenny Tonnesson gave hay rides. Rising Stars 4-H Club sponsored Bingo! and Paul & Mary Robinette took Fall Pictures. Merry Green provided supplies and helped decorate picture frames. An Apple Bake-Off was held. Five desserts were introduced. All of them were wonderful. SRT Telecommunications served coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. Pumpkins to be painted were provided by Donna Lunde, Greg Boutilier, and Ralph Larson. Paints were provided by Merry & Jo. A Bake sale was held and Garden produce was sold. All in all, it was a great day! Thank you to everyone who helped, donated supplies, and attended our Pumkin Fest! Special thank yo to Nancy Mueller who pulled it all together. It will be bigger and better next year.

Ever wonder . . .
Why the sun lightens our hair and darkens our skin?
Why don't you eer see the headline "Psychic wins lottery"?
Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?
Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?
Why is the man who invests all your money called a "broker"?
Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitos?
Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?
If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport "the terminal"?
Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
MATTHEW SAYS. . .
I went and got Matthew on Friday night. I had talked to him on the phone and missed him so much I just called back and asked if I could come and get him for a couple days. Holly said he had to be home by Sunday night cause they were going to order wrestling for him. He had been doing so good in school and helping around the house and it was to be a special treat. When I picked him up she said he had to be good at Grandma's house too. He didn't think this would be problem, cause according to Grandma he is always good. He got his treat! Boy, they learn early don't they!
Happy Halloween!

Just a thought ...
My Grandma Lucy always said if the spiders moved in early and set up shop we were in for a bad winter.
Have you noticed how the spiders have started t make ready for the cold weather and as soon as you sweep down there webs the are rebuilding. Master engineers, they are! Rob said he had noticed how the crows are hanging together. I ges this is also a sign of a bad winter. Well we are due for one. We have been quite lucky.
I remember when I was little and we would have 3 day blizzards. We had a wood stove in the kitchen and the furnace in the living room. We hung blankets in the door ways so not to warm any rooms that we didn't need. We would run from one room to another cause it was cold in between. The water would freeze up and the 2 TV stations would go out and we would play games and read. Well, maybe those days weren't so bad.
We would listen to the radio and there were always those people who had to go out and about and sometimes they turned out to be at somebodies house playing games and visiting.
I talk to a lot of people who come up here from the south and they are very concerned about our winters. Some of them can't believe I have lived

in this god forsaken land all my life. I tellthem if the weather looks bad just stay home. It's that easy! At least we don't have to worry about our houses being blown apart. Take a word of advice from an old North Dakota lady, stay home where it's warm and stock up on candles, games, hot chocolate and toilet paper,

City of Granville Home Rule
What is Home Rule?
As the name suggests, it means that "Rule" over local affairs is brought back "Home" to Granville. At the present time, most local affairs are governed by the ND State Legislature.
What is a Home Rule Charter?
It is a written document like a constitution, which spells out the power to be exercised under home rule. Of a majority of the people vote for a Home Rule Charter it becomes the basic law of the City.
What are the advantages of Home Rule?
The most important advantage is Local Control over Loca Affairs. (continued next column)
|
Home Rule continued ...
Instead of going to the ND Legislature every session to solve local problems, City of Granville citizens and officials will have the power to solve problems at home. With greater responsibility and authority vested in local government, citizens will have a greater interest in local government.
How will Home Rule affect taxes?
The Home Rule Charter commission has no plans for changing the tax structure of Granville. Home Rule can be used if the citizens want to change from property taxation to other forms of taxation. At present, the City of Granville is restricted by ND state law to property taxes. Under Home Rule, the City of Granville culd use any other form of taxes its citizens may prefer instead of property taxes.
Do the citizens lose any of the rights, privileges, or powers?
No. The Charter provides for protection through the initiative and referendum. By use of the initiative the citizens can vote an ordinance into effect without going through the City Council. By use of the referencdum the citizens can bring any ordinance passed by the City Council to a vote of the people. If the voters are against the referred ordinance it will be killed.
What form of government does the City of Granville currently operate under?
The City of Granville currently operates under a Mayor - Council form of government and derives its power to legislate fromthe state government. In other words, the Granville Mayor - Council can only do things that the state legislature says it can do.
