Family stories and events appearing in the newspaper, magazine or organizational publications, are a good source of family history for collecting and submitting. Church bulletins, public notices, and other "unofficial" documents may be submitted to the history committee.

Main Street North, Granville, N. Dak. Following the discovery of a gold nugget in the craw of a goose, there were seven active mines in McHenry County. There is gold in the sand, but there is no method of separating the gold from the bort. When the streets of Granville were paved the newspaper ran the headline, "Granville Streets Paved with Gold."

Audio-Visual Recordings

Photographs, audio tapes or video recordings are a good source of family or organizational history. These may be copied or transcribed for submission. Pictures are always an interesting source for appreciating history, “as it was”.
